Aside from students quickly commuting between residence halls and the McGinley Center’s Marketplace for a quick meal, Rose Hill’s campus is empty as conditions slowly begin to worsen.

The worst of the storm for the Bronx area will come tonight, says the National Weather Service. Heavy rain is a near certainty and winds are expected to hike up between 30 and 40 mph.

Rain and wind, heavy at times, is expected to continue Tuesday into Wednesday. As of Monday afternoon, Fordham maintained that all campuses would be open on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Since Fordham made the announcement about canceled classes on Sunday, parents have taken to Facebook to ask about campus conditions and food supplies on campus.

“What [is] being done to keep on-campus students safe and provide for meals/food,” Martha Maroun, apparently the parent of a student, wrote to Fordham on Facebook. “Glad to see info on classes but safety measure and food essentials info would ease worry.”

Bob Howe, senior communications director at Fordham, has encouraged parents to email him directly with questions [howe@fordham.edu]. He has also asked that students remember to keep their parents informed with campus information.

With the possibility of power outages on campus, Fordham is asking students to prepare a small bag containing critical items incase on-campus relocation is deemed necessary.

Con Edison has reported several power outages in the Bronx area as of Monday afternoon.

In the event of re-location, students would be moved into the Lombardi Field House where there is a backup generator, according to a Resident Director.
