Former Fordham President Injured, but Recovering

Rev. Joseph A. O’Hare, S.J., former president of the university, suffered minor injuries when he fell in his residence at Murray-Weigel on Monday, Jan. 19, according to Public Safety.

He was transported by ambulance to Montefiore North in the Bronx, but a security official at the off-campus residence on Tuesday said that O’Hare had returned and was recovering.

O’Hare, who is in his eighties, was the 31st president of the university and served from 1984 to 2003. He is the longest serving president of the university.

O’Hare, who grew up in the Bronx, was once the editor-in-chief of the Jesuit magazine America for 12 years.
