United Student Government’s Sexual Misconduct Task Force has released a video aimed at addressing the concerns of sexual misconduct on college campuses and expressing support to those who are survivors of sexual misconduct.

The video, which the Sexual Misconduct Task Force plans to have displayed around campus, features a number of students, faculty and staff.

Along with a number of student leaders, the video features Nevin Kulangara, executive President of USG, as well as the chairs of the Sexual Misconduct Task Force, Nicholas Sawicki, FCRH ’16, vice president of FCRH for USG and Caroline Corwin, FCRH ’15.

“Those of us who worked to produce the video wanted to include a wide array of students, administrators, and faculty,” said Sarah Skrobala, FCRH ’15, executive vice president of USG, who was featured in the video. “We felt that it was important that we include as many facets of the University as possible so that everyone who sees the video feels that they can relate to someone or some organization or department that is portrayed.”

“We are working on hosting a number of consent culture workshops this semester so student involvement in this could help increase bystander intervention, for instance,” Skrobala said, adding that the group is working to increase awareness and inform students about how to prevent sexual misconduct, and, if it occurs, how to manage the situation properly.

The Sexual Misconduct Task Force previously has hosted several programs, including a speak-out and a question-and-answer session regarding the training of Campus Security Authorities on the judicial procedures and precautions taken in cases of sexual assault.

The video, which was filmed and edited by Elisha Simon, GSB ’17, closes with Christopher Rodgers, dean of students. “And let’s create a beginning to a culture of consent and respect,” Rodgers says.
