Fordham track and field traveled to Stony Brook University on Saturday for the Wolfie Invitational. The teams put on one of their best performances at the home of the Seawolves with the men placing third and the women fourth in team competition

On the men’s side, the Rams scored in 12 times on the day. The top finisher was freshman Andrew Byrne, who won the high jump with a 6’2’.

Byrne also scored in the long jump, finishing fifth at 19’ 2 ½’. His junior teammate Vaughan Taylor finished a place behind with a 19’ 2 ¼’ jump. Freshman Jeremy Milite was also finished sixth in the discus throw when reached 66’ 11’.

On the track, sophomore Jared Benn had himself a day, scoring in two events. He put up an IC4A qualifying time of 22.02 in the 200m, placing second. He also put in a second place performance in the 100m, crossing the line in 11.28.

Junior Nik O’Brien joined him in the scoring column, finishing 6th in the 3000m with a time of 8:52.20. The final scorers on the track were the pairing junior Fritz Heinrich (4th – 1:55.28) and freshman Sean Sullivan (6th – 1:59.41) in the 800m and the trio of freshman Ryan Kutch (2nd – 4:01.28), sophomore Sean Phillips (3rd – 4:01.77) and junior Thomas Slattery (6th – 4:03.62).

On the women’s side, sophomore Aidan Moroz was the top finisher on the day. The Warrington, PA native was second in the 400m, finishing the race in 58.82. She was trailed by fellow sophomore Nkeka Pinheiro who finished sixth (59.92).

A pair of Rams scored in the hurdles. Junior Kylie Farrell was fifth in the 100m with a time of 15.71 seconds. Sophomore Morgan Menzzasalma placed fifth in 1:07.18.

In distance, senior Josephine Jacob-Dolan (3rd-10:20.88) and sophomore Kate McCormack (4th-10:23.95) paced Fordham in the 3000m run.

The women’s team put forth four scoring performances in field events. Freshman Gabriella Gavalas had two of them, placing third and fifth respectively in the triple and long jump with distances of 36’ 4’ and 16’ 8’. Freshman Alina Kwiatkowski also scored in the triple jump with a leap of 34’ 1 ½’. Finally, sophomore Neve Devine cleared 5’ 1’ in the high jump, good for third place.

In relay action the women’s “A” took third in the 4x100m with a time of 49.07. The “A” 4×400 team was even better, posting a second place finish in 4:02.57. The “B” team was fourth at 4:09.09 in the same race.

The men had two squads in the 4x400m. The “A” quartet was third in a time of 3:31.00 and the “C” relay were sixth in 3:40.89.

The Fordham track & field team will next be in action at the Penn Relays, which will take place April 27-29.
