People say after a hard loss to just “get back up and get ‘em next time.” Well, for the 2017 New York Giants, there probably isn’t a next time. As if the Giants 2017 football season couldn’t get any worse… but it did. It was possibly the worst loss of the season this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Starting the season 0-4 on four really tough losses, the Giants came into Sunday trying to just to get their first win off their backs. Instead of just losing and moving onto next week, the injury bug bit the Giants, and left a really bad mark.
As we all know the Giants are known for their offense and how explosive it could be with their wide receivers. Not one, not two, not three, but four of their receivers went down, including their star wide out and one of the best in the game Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham had been battling injuries all year but this one ended his season. After missing week one with an ankle injury, Beckham played the next three games and played them well, Sunday was the beginning of the end. Late in the game, after having scored one touchdown, he went up for a catch and landed awkwardly on his ankle underneath another Charger defensive back. As soon as he went down the crowd knew he was hurt. He stayed on the ground for minutes and couldn’t get up. He was taken off the field in a cart and as he was laying on the cart, he burst into tears and was very emotional. Beckham received season-ending surgery on Tuesday.

Special teams star Dwayne Harris who broke his foot early in the game, which ended his season as well. Last year’s rookie sensation Sterling Shepard also went down with a knee injury and is out for possibly a month. And veteran and first year Giant Brandon Marshall is also receiving season-ending surgery. Four huge weapons injured and a loss to go 0-5. No one saw this coming.

Who is Eli Manning throwing to now? The Giants’ season is pretty much over as they sit dead last in the standings, so they are in no rush for injured players to return. But some fans are happy that the Giants may come in last. Why? This means they could possibly get the first overall pick in next year’s NFL draft and take the best player available for next season. The fans are already moving onto next season. It looks like the Giants will be forced to as well.
