Loebe Receives A-10 Weekly Honor

Senior forward Janos Loebe continues to lead Men’s Soccer in its push for another NCAA Tournament berth. His second conference weekly award of the season, and eighth of his career, came in the form of Co-Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the recognition with St. Bonaventure’s Kosi Nwafornso. On Saturday, he fueled the Fordham charge, scoring two goals in a 3-0 trouncing of La Salle that clinched a spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The performance marked Loebe’s second five-point effort of the season, as he moved into fourth place on the program’s all-time points list with 83. The veteran leader now has seven goals and 11 assists on the season.

Rowing at Head of the Schuylkill

Fordham Women’s Rowing competed in its final regatta of the season on the Schuylkill in Philadelphia. The women sent four crews, with women’s frosh / Novice 8+ finishing 10th, the A crew placing ninth, the B crew coming in 42nd and first varsity 8+ crew slotting in at 13.

Mevis Takes Home Patriot League Weekly Award

Considering Fordham turned in a lackluster offensive effort, resulting in nine punts, sophomore specialist Andrew Mevis made the most of the surrounding issues. Five of his nine punts netted 50-plus yards, including a 68-yarder that pinned Lafayette inside its own five yardline. This marked the second consecutive week that Mevis earned the conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week honor. Last week, it was a 70-yard punt that wowed the Jack Coffey faithful.

Alex Named to All-Rookie Team

With a 62nd-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship, helping Fordham surge to a third-place nod, its best-ever finish at the event, freshman Bridget Alex was named to the Atlantic 10’s All-Rookie Team. Her finishing time of 18:47.0 was within the top seven first-year runners at championship, allowing for eventual qualification.
