The Fordham RHA Talent Showcase, featuring student various student performers, was held Friday night in the McGinley Ballroom as part of A Series of Fortunate Events. Proceeds from the concert benefitted the B+ Foundation, an organization that funds childhood cancer research.

“One of our former members worked with B+, and it works with universities and does musical events, so this was a good way to fuse it all together,” Mike Meehan, FCRH ’14 and RHA president, said.

The $500 top prize was won by the Keating Steps, Fordham’s resident student folk group.

“It feels really, really cool,” TJ Alcala, FCRH ’13 and a member of the Keating Steps, said of the win. “This was a lot of fun.”

Several other student groups performed at the event. The Fordham b-Sides  and Fordham Flava performed song and dance medleys, respectively.  Eddie Gore performed both a cover of “Devil Knows You’re Dead” by Delta Spirit and an original song called “Been on the Run.”

Will Ganss and Tara Minogue each got two turns at the microphone.  Ganss and Anna Markolovic performed their own version of the “Saturday Night Live” Spartan Cheerleaders sketch. He then sang a cover of Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight.” Minogue covered both Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” and Adele’s “Turning Tables.”

Several other RHA events are taking place in the coming weeks as part of A Series of Fortunate Events, including an auction where the first two housing lottery spots are among the prizes.
