After a stellar college career in goal, Kelly LaMorte will be continuing her soccer career overseas, signing with Nea Salamina Famagusta of Cyprus.
LaMorte caps off an impressive four years at Fordham with a pro contract, saying to Fordham Athletics, “I’m so excited for this opportunity to continue playing the game that I love and would like to thank my coaches and teammates at Fordham for the amazing last 4 years.”
Head Coach Jessica Clinton also reflected on her time with LaMorte, saying, “We are proud of Kelly and her pursuit and passion to continue to play after her collegiate career. She was a stellar goalkeeper for us and we are excited to watch her at the next level.”
LaMorte hung up her cleats at Fordham as one of the best keepers in the school’s history, playing every game in goal over the past two years. In her junior season, LaMorte earned nine wins, including eight shutouts with an impressive 78.7 save percentage.
Her final year saw even more success. Earning the mark of team MVP, LaMorte stopped just shy of 100 shots on the season, headlined by a 14-save outing against George Washington, to rank 35th across the NCAA. She ended her career fifth in saves, second in both minutes played and shutouts and third in appearances in the Fordham record book.
LaMorte becomes the latest Ram to play at the professional level, as she joins Nea Salamina Famagusta in the Cypriot First Division, the highest in Cyprus soccer.
