The Men’s College Squash Association honored three Fordham athletes among 50 total varsity players as CSA Scholar-Athletes, with the distinction going to Jimmy Shinnick, Sahil Bahri and John Lennon. The CSA awards varsity athletes as Scholar Athletes and club players with Academic Recognition. Varsity student-athletes are required to be play on a varsity team for at least two years at a single school, post a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above, be a junior or senior and occupy a top-10 ladder position for the majority of the season. Shinnick is an international political economy major with a 3.78 GPA and went 14-5 for the season, finishing behind only Peter Yuen. Bahri is a finance major with a 3.78 GPA, finishing with an 8-2 record for the season. Lennon is a finance major with a 3.86 GPA and was 10-7 for the season.
On Friday, Fordham Football held the last of 15 practices in the 2017 spring season on Jack Coffey Field. Head coach Andrew Breiner ended the practice session with a seven-on-seven scrimmage. This was also referred to and promoted by Fordham Football as their Spring Game. The Rams now go without practice until August, which is when their 2017 fall camp is held. Fordham’s first game is on Friday night, September 1 at Army West Point. This spring season comes after a promising 2017 recruiting class. Featuring seven offensive players and seven defensive players, in addition to two special team players, the incoming freshmen range from linemen and linebackers to wide receivers and even a long snapper.
