-Confused

Dear Confused,

In a situation like this, you should give her the benefit of the doubt.  The boys she texts could just be her friends, and those rumors you hear could be false.  If you have not brought up that you want to be more serious with her, you should not judge her.  If you’re concerned, you should ask her about the boys she texts and the rumors that you hear. If she is a trustworthy girl, she will answer you honestly.  Then you can decide whether or not you want to pursue her, but only you can make that judgment.  Good luck!

Dear Emma,

All my friends have boyfriends and I feel like I’m missing out.  I haven’t found anybody that I want to date yet, but I’m starting to feel lonely.  Should I look for one or should I just stay single?

-Single

Dear Single,

College is a time for finding yourself and learning new things.  If you find somebody that you want to be with, that’s great, but definitely don’t go looking for him.  Your time will be better spent traveling or doing new things with your friends.  On nights when your friends are with their boyfriends, go out and try to make more friends.  The right boy will come along when you least expect it.

-Emma

Dear Emma,

I’ve been dating a boy for a few months, but we’ve been best friends for three years.  I love him, but there’s this new boy that moved onto my floor that I’ve been talking to and I caught really strong feelings for him.  This boy is kind of a player and he is definitely not the commitment type, but I can’t stop thinking about him.  What should I do?

-Torn

Dear Torn,

What you should do depends on what you want out of the situation. Thinking realistically, if you break up with your boyfriend for this other boy, you could possibly lose a friend, and this other boy most likely won’t commit.  You are emotionally cheating, so it’s only fair to your boyfriend that you let him know what’s going on.  Also, the fact that you started to catch feelings for somebody else while you are with your boyfriend is a red flag that maybe you don’t like him as much as you thought.  However, if you don’t want to lose your boyfriend then you should probably try to cut off the other boy.  This is probably the wisest decision because if the other boy is a player, then he’s doing what he does best: playing games. Just be careful because you could end things with your boyfriend and ultimately end up losing both of them.  Good luck!

-Emma
