Fordham basketball announced Saturday that sophomore guard Jon Severe will take a leave of absence from the team “to address personal issues.”

“We will continue to support Jon as he addresses some personal issues off the court,” head coach Tom Pecora said in a statement. “We wish him and his family all the best during this process and hope that everyone will respect their privacy.”

Severe, who was the team’s second leading scorer last season, has appeared in three games this year for the Rams, scoring five points and grabbing seven rebounds. He was also suspended for the team’s first game against NYIT for violating team rules.

The Rams’ next matchup comes Saturday afternoon against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in the Rose Hill Gym at 4 p.m.
