How Custom Music Can Help You Create Effective Video Advertisements

It’s not the easiest thing to catch someone’s attention in the age of scrolling. That’s why, in the world of video advertising, every detail matters, especially the music. Visuals are important, but if you play different music over a scene, it can change the context immediately. Just consider background songs for vlogs. Having the right one can truly make or break how successful it is.

But you can’t just insert whatever music you like! It’s important to consider copyright law and find or create high-quality music that you can use. With this in mind, you can create something impressionable for your audience.

Key Benefits of Using Custom Music

Having custom music provides an edge over competitors. There are many highlights from using it. When you put all the benefits together, it’s clear that it’s an amazing option for companies. Let’s explore.

Clear Brand Identity

Establishing identity within your brand is important. Music can help solidify what that identity is. But when you don’t have custom music, you are already taking on the identity of someone else’s creation. Custom music can allow you to establish a sound, rhythm, and beat that clearly reflects the personality of your brand.

Sound is a part of the senses, and so while your audience may be seeing visually what’s going on, it’s important to take the hearing sense and meticulously develop that. If a sound is too harsh, too annoying, or elicits the wrong feelings, it can hurt your brand. But the right one can produce a positive familiarity.

Consistency Across Platforms

When you use other people’s music, it’s easy to lose consistency. Likely you would pick from a bunch of artists rather than just one. When you pick from one artist, it looks like your identity matches theirs. However, when you pick multiple, it’s easy for the company identity to get lost altogether. Neither solution is great. That’s why creating your own custom music adheres to the idea of keeping your own brand consistent with its image.

Elicit Emotion and Connectivity

Music connects us by eliciting emotions. If you want to convey something sad, happy, joyful, or confident, there is going to be different music for each one of those emotions. By choosing a custom song, you can make it that much clearer what emotion you are trying to reach. Sometimes it may be more than one. A song that already has been made may not connect in the way you are trying to with your audience. Just consider a car commercial. That music is going to be different from one for an animal hospital.

Furthermore, music that isn’t a copyright issue can end up being low-quality or limiting options. This can hurt your video advertisement significantly as users won’t connect with what you are doing or selling.

Attention and Engagement

As we mentioned in the intro, the ability to captivate your audience and hold them is important. Arguably sound can be more important than visuals in this case. Visuals without sound have a hard time keeping someone’s attention.

When the user hasn’t heard something before but they like it, they are going to pay more attention, trying to find out what that song is and what it is associated with. If they have heard the song before and they don’t care for it, there is a possibility that they will ignore or not even register that the video advertisement is on.

Storytelling and Originality

Video advertisements have a short window of time to tell a story that resonates with the user. Custom music has the ability to add a completely new dimension to that story. It creates originality because the wrong music can depict a different image.

Setting the tone with something unique not only fits your story but it will impress your audience with the dedication. Being original is something that is commonly sought out. Custom music helps with that.

Copyright Cautions

When you don’t create your own music or use custom music, you are playing with copyright liabilities if you don’t have permission. Gaining permission to use another artist’s work is not always the easiest thing. Depending on the avenue you choose to pursue, it can take longer than you have, or they can flat-out say no.

Not having the right permission can lead to a bad reputation at the very least and, at the most, getting sued. Custom music acids this entirely.

Try Something New

When you use custom music, you are potentially looking at a completely transformed video advertisement. Enhancing your brand identity while connecting emotionally with your audience is one thing. But being original while doing both of these things has the ability to launch your brand into success.

Investing your time, energy, and money into custom music can pay off big time in the long run. Creating something memorable and leaving a lasting impression on your audience is crucial to a brand’s success.
