Borderless Moves: Expert Assistance for Long-Distance Transitions
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Reddit

Moving is inevitably a stressful process. Everything needs to come together in just the right way to make the transition a smooth one. For most people, it doesn’t quite work out that way. Though everything generally comes together in the end, there are usually quite a few problems and frustrations along the way.

When you’re moving long distance, it can be even more hectic, and there’s a great deal more mileage between your old home and your new one where virtually anything could go wrong.

Setting the Stage for a Stress-Free Move

Although something is bound to go wrong at some point when you’re moving, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a harrowing experience. Certain measures can help make the transition go more smoothly. Read on to learn more about some of the steps you can take to set the stage for success.

Hire Professional Movers

One of the most effective ways to make your move go as smoothly as possible is to enlist the help of professional movers. They offer several types of long distance move assistance to take away much of the worry and frustration.

For one, they can use their packing expertise and experience to your benefit. Packing is one of the most difficult aspects of moving, but professional movers can come in and do it for you. They know how to pack your belongings to prevent damage during the transition.

Beyond packing, movers understand the most efficient ways to load your belongings into the moving trucks. They also cover the driving.

That, alone, can eliminate monumental amounts of stress, not the mention the risks it takes off of your shoulders. Professional movers can ensure your belongings get out of your old home and into the new one per your schedule. They’ll do the heavy lifting and some even unpack for you if you’d like.

Create a Solid Moving Plan

Create a Solid Moving Plan

Another great way to simplify your long-distance transition is to create a solid long-term plan for the move. Start this phase of the process well ahead of time. It’ll essentially be your timeline and checklist to ensure nothing gets overlooked.

Don’t just develop that plan in your head; write it down so you’ll have a tangible copy to look at, add to, and adjust as needed.

Plan for packing non-essential items early on, so you won’t have so much to do during the last few days before the move. Consider getting rid of clutter, broken items, clothing your family has outgrown, things you never use, and other non-essentials along the way. That’ll give you less to pack and unpack. It’ll also save valuable space in your new home.

Book your professional movers as early as possible to ensure they’re available when you need them. Further down your timeline, you can schedule a time to start packing items you want to keep but don’t use very often. Closer to moving day, it’ll be time to start packing the essentials.

Pen in reminders to find out about the utility providers, school registration requirements, doctors’ offices, and other important points in your new neighborhood. Schedule dates to have utilities, trash pickup, and other services stopped at your old home and started at the new one.

Add filling out a change of address form to the mix. Those are only a few of the factors you’ll need to keep in mind. Each family’s situation is different, so you’ll need to customize your plan and checklist accordingly.

Enjoying a Seamless Long-Distance Move

Moving can certainly be exhausting and frustrating. Long-distance moves come with a few particularly trying challenges, but there are steps you can take to minimize the stress involved. Hire professional movers and take advantage of their knowledge and experience. They’ll take care of the heavy lifting, driving, and other factors so you don’t have to. They’ll even help with packing and unpacking if you need them to.

Additionally, be sure to develop a moving plan well in advance of moving day. Create a distinct timeline of things you need to do, and start handling them as early as possible. All those measures will help you enjoy a more seamless transition.
